About the Game
Terrene
|
Terrene is a world building game where 2-6 players have to build a world with tiles to compete against eachother and complete quests and win the game. The existing tiles are forests, mountains, fields and water tiles. In order to complete the quests the player has to combine these different land tiles and create the desired pattern for the quest criteria. If the player succeeds they will be awarded by the quest points and be able to move their meeple on the score board. Throughout the game there should always be three main quests visible for all players on the table until the quest pile is empty. Each player also receives a hidden quest only visible for the player and upon completion the player receivs a new private quest card. |
Since the player is only allowed a maximum of two tiles in their hand and a maximum of two actions each round they can choose to swap any tile with any other player - ruining a friendship. The swapping is only allowed one time each turn and only with one tile.

The Inspiration
Terrene was made during a boardgame course at the university. Before we started to create our own boardgame we had two weeks to play through and analyse a total of six boardgames. From these six boardgames we then decided which mechanic and type of boardgame we liked the most and from that game we took inspiration for our own. The game we all liked the most was the game Carcassonne which is a world building game with tiles were the players claim the land in order to win the game. We choose the mechanic of creating a world with tiles since we found this a fun and interesting mechanic to have in a game. We were fascinated by the way a world could take form in different directions depending on how the players choose to place their tiles. We were excited to create a world creating boardgame on our own, and this was how Terrene was born. |
